Shared Ownership / New Build HomeBuy

What is it?
Shared Ownership is sometimes called ‘part buy, part rent.’ That means you can buy a 50% share in a home & you pay a rent for the remaining share to Riverside Midlands.

Who is it for?
Shared Ownership is aimed at helping people who want to be homeowners but cannot afford to buy outright on the open market in their local community. It is obviously easier to obtain a mortgage for 50% of the value of a property than the full 100%, although there is a rent to pay as well.

Am I eligible?
In deciding whether you are eligible, Riverside Midlands consider the following factors in determining priority:

  • What are your existing housing arrangements?
  • Are your existing housing circumstances unsuitable?
  • Are you a first-time buyer?
  • Have you recently moved to the area to take up employment?
  • Are you in need of a new home following a relationship breakdown?
  • Are you able to afford the costs of shared ownership but unable to buy a home on the open market?
